Copper-thief arrested on fire department's roof
A 28-year-old man from Westervoort was arrested on the roof of a fire station on Schonenvaardersstraat in Deventer in the act of stealing copper wire, De Gelderlander reports.
A local resident called the police on Monday night after noticing the man on the fire department's roof. Several police units responded and arrested the man on the premises. After the arrest the officers found nippers and copper cables that were cut loose and coiled up for transport. The suspect also had a bottle containing the drug GHB on him.
In the neighborhood of the fire station the police find what they believe is the suspect's car.
All items were confiscated and the suspect is in custody for investigation.
