Some 9,000 suitcases left behind after technical fault at Schiphol

A technical fault in Schiphol's baggage system resulted in some 9 thousand suitcases being left behind at the airport over the weekend, Het Parool reports. Affected passengers were mostly transfer passengers flying with KLM and Delta Air Lines. The fault happened in a limited part of the system, a spokesperson said to NU.nl. The result was that some of the baggage was not taken along on the scheduled flights between Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The cause is still unknown. Some 4 thousand bags and suitcases were since reunited with their owners. The other 5 thousand will be returned as soon as possible. Schiphol regrets the incident and the inconvenience it caused to travelers.
