Man and baby killed in jump from Amsterdam window
A man and a baby were killed after a fall from a window of a property on Eendrachtstraat in Amsterdam on Friday. Everything surrounding this incident is still very unclear, but the police believe that the man jumped out of his own volition with the baby in his arms, the Telegraaf reports.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. So far there is no information on what happened before the man jumped, from which floor he jumped or whether he is the father of the baby.
Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victims, but to no avail. Eyewitnesses told the Telegraaf that the baby died instantly, but the man was still alive after the fall.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is currently investigating in the home the man jumped from. According to ANP, there may be a hand grenade in the home. A SWAT team entered the home at around 2:15 p.m., to get it ready for the EOD team to enter. Surrounding homes were evacuated.
A police helicopter is circling above the area. A police spokesperson could not tell the Telegraaf why that is. AT5 reports that a SWAT team is keeping an eye on the home from surrounding rooftops.
