Woman killed by daughter's boyfriend in Gelderland town
A 58-year-old woman was killed in a stabbing incident in a home on Velddijksestraat in Maasbommel on Saturday morning. One suspect was arrested. According to Dutch newspaper AD, the woman was killed by her pregnant daughter's boyfriend.
Police officers responded to the home around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, the police said in a statement. There they found a severely injured woman. She died at the scene. The police lauched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. A man was arrested later that day on suspicion of involvement.
According to AD, the victim was Lea and she was killed in her own home by her daughter's boyfriend. Daughter Laura moved in with Lea and her partner Fred so they could help her with the last stage of her pregnancy and with the new baby. Laura brought her two kids and her boyfriend "Marcus" with her.
One of the reasons Laura decided to move in with her mom was that Marcus is struggling with depression. He was not doing well, neighbors told the newspaper. On Friday he went to a doctor, who referred him to an aid agency in Tiel. "There he begged to be admitted, in Eindhoven he was also a client in an institution", one neighbor said. "But they found admission unnecessary. But they did increase the medication."
The stabbing happened a day later. According to the neighbors, Marcus turned himself in. Laura, her two children and Fred were taken in by another relative.
