Olympic Stadium fire destroys Amsterdam’s Harbour Club Cafe

A large fire completely destroyed the Harbour Club Cafe in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam on Wednesday morning. Offices located around the cafe also sustained smoke damage. The fire started in the cafe at around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Het Parool reports. The cafe was closed at the time. Firefighters managed to quickly get the fire under control, but could not save the cafe. "The cafe is burnt out completely. The damage is huge", a spokesperson for the fire department said to the newspaper. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Harbour Club Cafe, sister cafe to a very popular Amsterdam restaurant, opened in the Olympic Stadium in December last year. It was the third Harbour Club establishment in the city. The cafe was set to host a food truck event with Amsterdam Kookt! this weekend. It is as yet unclear whether this event will continue.
