Some 500 kilos of cocaine found hidden in Rotterdam carnival game

About 500 kilograms of cocaine was found hidden in the arms of a carnival attraction in Rotterdam last week, the Public Prosecutor announced on Wednesday. The carnival attraction - called a slingshot - arrived in the port of Rotterdam on April 3rd on a boat from Curacao. The drugs were discovered by Customs officers. The cocaine, which had an estimated street value of 15 million euros, was removed and destroyed. The slingshot was addressed to a 50 year old man from The Hague. He was arrested on Tuesday and is still in custody. He will be arraigned on Friday. The drug discovery and arrest was made by the Hit and Run Cargo Team, known as the HARC team. It consists of Customs officers, the Tax Office's investigative department FIOD and the Seaport police.
