Interior Min. investigating referendum subsidies

Minister Ronald Plasterk of Home Affairs is considering new rules surrounding subsidies for referendums, following questions on how the subsidies for the Ukraine referendum was used, ANP reports. Two million euros in subsidies were handed out for the Ukraine referendum. The money was to be distributed to opponents, supporters and the neutral camp for campaigning. Some of the money ended up with political parties and Plasterk wonders if that is really what the money was intended for. He plans to raise the issue in the government's upcoming review on the referendum.
