European Commission: Dutch referendum has no effect on Ukraine agreement

The Netherlands voting "no" in the referendum on the association agreement between the EU and Ukraine, has no effect on the agreement itself. The agreement was already signed and unanimously adopted by all EU member states' heads of government, and the Dutch "no" does not change that, a spokesperson for the European Commission said to broadcaster NOS. European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker called Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Wednesday night, after the results became clear. They spoke for some time, according to the broadcaster. The Commission is now waiting to see what the Dutch government will do with the no-vote. There is no deadline for the Dutch government to come up with a solution.
