Erdogan: Netherlands inept on terrorism; Justice Min. denies

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's claim that the Netherlands and Belgium does not under stand terrorism or jihadism is "absolutely incorrect", Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice said on Friday following Erdogan's interview with CNN. "We know a lot about terrorism and jihadism. We have a proper eye on it and as far as it goes, have it well under control", Van der Steur said, according to news wire ANP. "We know what we should want to know and every day we are working to further increase our knowledge". He added that safety can never be 100 percent guaranteed, but they are doing everything possible to reduce the chances of an attack. "100,000 people under my responsibility are working day in and day out to keep the Netherlands safe." In the interview with CNN Edogran responds to the Netherlands allegations that Turkey did not clearly indicate that Brussels bomber Ibrahm El Bakraoui had jihadist tendencies when they deported him to the Netherlands in July last year. "Of course for both the Netherlands in Belgium to understand whether someone having a jihadi intention or not, first they need to know what jihadi intention means." he said. "Neither the Netherlands or the Belgians seem to have understood what jihadist stands for."
