The tennis player withdrew from the tournament due to knee problems. Everink was found stabbed to death in his home in Bilthoven early in March. The business man was an avid tennis player before being assaulted by kickboxer Badr Hari at Sensation White in 2012. Shortly after Everink's death Haase told Quote how shocked he was by the news. Everink and Haase spent quite a bit of time together before his death. "I have no words for it", Haase said to Quote, adding that the two of them spoke just a few days before about Everink's plans for the future.
