Video: Joran van der Sloot confesses to Natalee Holloway murder
Joran van der Sloot confessed to killing Natalee Holloway in a video recorded with hidden cameras by American news sites Radar Online and The National Enquirer.
This is not the first time Van der Sloot confessed to killing the missing American teenager. He previously extorted money from Holloway's mother by offering to confess if she paid him and in 2008 he confessed in a video set up by Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries. In an interview with Fox that same year he said he sold the girl as a sex slave. He later claimed that both confessions were made up for attention and/or money.
This latest confession was recorded in the Challapalca Prison in Peru, where Van der Sloot is serving a 28 year sentence for the murder of Stephanie Flores.
"I always lied to the police", Van der Sloot says in Dutch in the video. "I never told the truth. I made up so many stories against the police." And: "I am guilty of everything I did." When asked if this also applies to Natalee Holloway, he answers: "Yes, yes, there too I am guilty and I accept that."
Natalee's father believes that Van der Sloot's latest confession is just another attempt to get out of the harsh conditions in the Peruvian prison. "He's played that game too many time", Dave Holloway said to Radar Online. "He could sit down there and rot in the prison system he's in now." He is not getting his hopes up that Van der Sloot will ever tell the truth about what happened to his daughter.
