Small-town club’s Dutch Cup success draws fans from the U.S.

Amateur football club VVSB's sensational win against FC Den Bosch last month, has their fans ready and excited for the semi-finals on Wednesday. Some 21 thousand SVB supporters are getting on the bus in their home town of Noordwijkerhout on Wednesday to travel travel to Galgenwaard stadium in Utrecht. Among them are Kes and Ellen van Zelst, who came all the way from America to witness the event, AD reports. Kees and Ellen van Zelst emigrated from Noordwijkerhout to Michigan in the United States in 1970. But they were not about to let distance stand in their way when it comes to seeing their football team's special moment. So they decided to fly back to the Netherlands, and on Monday they stood in the queue at the tourist office in Dorpstraat for a VVSB scarf, along with all the other supporters. "This event we did not want to miss", Kees said to AD. "I played in the juniors VVSB, our family still plays football there. Through them we heard the sensational stories about the cup stunt. I told Ellen: Wee need to go to the semifinals. You can experience this only once. So we tied up two weeks of holiday and now we hope for a new miracle."
