Suspect tied to British tourist drowning released

The 23-year-old man arrested in Amsterdam on suspicion that he mugged British tourist Richard Cole shortly before he drowned, was released on his own recognizance on Wednesday, the Public Prosecutor announced. He is still a suspect. Richard Cole went missing on January 25th. His body was found in Amsterdam canal Herengracht on February 1st. Surveillance camera footage show that he was mugged by three men shortly before he fell into the canal. The 23 year old suspect was arrested on February 19th in Rotterdam. As he has no criminal record, the Public Prosecutor found that there are no grounds to hold him in custody any longer.
