Bowie exhibition provides big boost to Groningen economy

The Groningen economy is benefiting from the David Bowie exhibition in the Groninger Museum. The exhibition welcomed its 100,000th visitor on Friday, and each of those visitors spend extra money in hotels, restaurants, cafes and shops in the city. "In the long term the Bowie exhibition is paying off, because there is both national and international attention for it", Marketing Groningen director Hans Poll said to the Dagblad van Het Noorden. Groningen Tourist counted 16 thousand more visitors than in the same period last year. "Especially the number of Brits are remarkable", Poll said. "They come by plane and land at Eelde. They are happy with this possibility in Groningen because the same exhibition in London sold out quickly."
