Bomb threats made at three Amsterdam schools

The reports of a terrorist threat that had Amsterdam on high alert on Thursday involved bombs at three schools in the city. All three schools were searched extensively, but no explosives were found, police sources said to the Telegraaf. The rector of the Amsterdam Lyceum told Het Parool that the school received a bomb threat. Two other schools also took security measures after a threat of explosion. According to broadcaster NOS, all three schools involved were high schools. The schools were not evacuated. The police are now looking for the origin threat. One of the scenarios they are considering is that the threats may have been an inappropriate joke. Schools in Britain and France also received threats on Thursday. According to British newspaper The Telegraph, at least 18 schools in Brimingham and Wimbledon were evacuated due to bomb threats. The British police viewed the reports as false alarms, but decided to rather be safe and evacuate the thousands of school students. Five schools in Paris were also evacuated after the schools were threatened, according to French newspaper Le Monde.
