Four separate stabbings leave two dead, many arrests
Two people were killed in four separate stabbings across the Netherlands on New Year's Eve and New Year's morning. Several people were arrested.
A 22-year-old Haarlem resident was stabbed to death on the Zomerkade in Haarlem around 3:45 a.m. on Friday, according to the police. Five people were arrested, all from Haarlem. An unknown number of people were injured. The police are investigating.
A 23-year-old man from Deventer died in the hospital on Thursday night after he was wounded in a stabbing incident on the Verlengde Ooyerhoekseweg in Zutphen at around 1:35 p.m. that afternoon. The police are still looking for the two perpetrators.
The police arrested four men around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday after a stabbing incident on the Burcht in Zaandam left a 23-year-old man slightly injured. The victim was taken to the hospital. Two men, aged 25 and 32, were arrested on the Burcht directly after the stabbing. Some time later the police also arrested another 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man in a home on Zuiddijk. All four suspects are in custody. The police are investigating.
A stabbing in an apartment in Vlijmen left one person injured with stab wounds and another assaulted at around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, according to Omroep Brabant. Both people were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The police are investigating.
