Ex-wife to keep lottery winnings after husband left for a younger woman
Bad news for an Amsterdam man who left his wife for a younger woman. The court ruled that he is not entitled to half of the more than 2 million euros his now ex-wife won in the lottery months before their divorce was official, RTL Nieuws reports.
The woman won a massive 2,109,655 euros in the post code lottery in January. The court pronounced the couple divorced in July of this year, and the Civil Registry processed it in October.
The man claimed half of the winnings, stating that they were married for 30 years and the played lottery with his ex-wife for many years.
The woman did not want to share her winnings, pointing out that their joint estate was officially established in October 2014, two months before she won the lottery, that they had been living separately for several years and that the man left her for a younger women, who he is now living with.
The court ruled in favor of the woman, partly because the man the man did not contribute to the cost of the woman's livelihood.
