Burglars steal Christmas stocking stuffers from food bank

Burglars broke into the food bank Goed Ontmoet in Bergen op Zoom over the weekend and managed to get away with between 500 and 600 euros worth of Christmas stocking stuffers. Employees noticed the break in at the warehouse on Abraham de Haanstraat on Monday morning, Jan de Ridder, head of food acquisition at the food bank told Omroep Brabant. Most of what was stolen was intended for the food bank's clients. "And we have many. Our food bank helps 500 families in the municipalities of Bergen op Zoom, Halderberge, Ossendrecht and Sint-Maartensdijk in the province of Zeeland", he said to the broadcaster. The burglars stole, among other things, small toys, candles, soup bowls, dog food and fire lighters. "We wanted to incorporate them into Christmas presents, but now we can't", De Ridder said. So far there is no trace of the perpetrators.
