Video of Audi RS6 DTM theft revealed; car fire destroyed garage
The police released more information, including video footage and photos, on the theft and subsequent arson of a one the one of a kind Audi RS6 DTM in the hopes that tips from the public can lead to an arrest. The information was broadcast on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday. The car was stolen at gunpoint at around 11:00 p.m on Wednesday, October 14th.
A film crew, which was making a video of the one of a kind car, stopped to film at Kriterion, a gas station between the Piet Hein tunnel and the highway in Amsterdam, when a van pulled up. Two men got out of the van, forced the Audi driver out of the car with a gun, set their own van on fire and took off in the Audi in the direction of the A10 and the Seeburger tunnel.
A few hours later, at 2:30 a.m. on October 15th, the police received a report of a fire in a parking garage on Nachtwachtlaan. The one of a kind Audi went up in flames. The fire was so fierce that all 152 cars in the garage were damaged, two of them, including the Audi, completely burnt out. The garage was severely damaged - steel roof beams melted in the heat, creating a risk of collapse. The police are looking for witnesses of either the armed car theft or the fire.
