Rotterdam mayor, Justice Min. join 600 in mosque’s Paris memorial
Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and Justice Minister Ard van der Steur were two of the more than 600 people who gathered in the Essalam mosque in Rotterdam on Monday night to hold a memorial for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday.
"Tonight Rotterdam shows: we belong together, whatever religion or belief you have", the Rotterdam mayor said during the memorial, according to the Telegraaf. He was one of 10 speakers. "Let's be brave and not give evil a chance. Let's be one and keep building a peaceful society together."
The memorial was organized from people within the Rotterdam community.
People all across the Netherlands held a minute of silence for the Paris attacks victims on Monday at noon.
