Fake police forensic expert also went for MH17 job
Peter B., the 54 year old man arrested last month for pretending to be a pathologist and doctor to teach at the police academy in Apeldoorn, tried to get onto the team that identified the victims of the MH17 disaster.
Police spokesperson Thomas Aling confirmed this to Dutch newspaper AD.
B., also known as Dr. Bones, reported to the National Forensic Investigation Team earlier this year. "He said that he was the right man to take the vacant place of anatomist George Maat in the team", Aling said to the newspaper. Maat was fired from the team in April after giving a public lecture featuring sensitive information and photos of the MH17 victims. According to Aling, B.'s request was quickly rejected after their screening. "His story and papers were wrong."
Robbert Adema, the lawyer representing B., told the newspaper that his client claims never to have been involved in the identification of victims. He would give no further comments.
B. is still in custody.
