Hundreds visit silent vigil for Brabant shooting victim

Hundreds of people participated in a silent march in Molenschot on Wednesday evening in honor of Hugo van Houten, the 27 year old man who was shot and killed in the town on Monday night. Van Houten lived in Capelle aan den IJssel, but regularly stayed at a campground in Molenschot, where his girlfriend has a cottage, Omroep Brabant reports. The march was organized by Van Houten's friends and family. Hundreds of people participated. They carried white balloons, which were released into the air when the march ended around 9:00 p.m. "Hugo was a very nice boy", one participant said to the broadcaster. "I don't know how this could have happened." another added. Hugo van Houten was shot down just outside campsite Linberg Park on Broekweg on Monday night. The perpetrators fled the scene after the shooting. Several sources told Omroep Brabant that Hugo was recently a member of motorcycle club No Surrender. The police are taking into account that his murder may be a settlement in the criminal world.
