Police: Journalist attacked in Amsterdam-West should report

The police are calling on journalist Jan Roos to report the attack on his person in Amsterdam-West on Tuesday evening. The former PowNed reporter posted his experience on Twitter. According to Roos, he was attacked by 12 Moroccans in Amsterdam-West with "sticks, iron rods and stones. Because I worked at PowNed."

Net aangevallen door 12 Marokkanen in Amsterdam-West met stokken, ijzeren staven en stenen. Omdat ik bij PowNed heb gewerkt.

Roos told The Post Online that he was visiting a friend on Joos de Moorstraat when the attack happened. He was noticed by a "group of Moroccans" when he went to refill the parking meter. "I got a rain of stones on my back, they pulled the stones from the sidewalk. They walked with sticks and iron rods." He fought back and they ran away. He also told the news agency that he will not report the crime because it does not make sense. "To whom can I report this? Amsterdam West is full of angry and aggressive Moroccans. I'm not going to waste my time, the police are not doing anything about it." A spokesperson for the Amsterdam police confirmed to the AD that they have not received a report from Roos, but saw his account on Twitter. They urge the journalist to report the incident. "Of course we want to know more about it", the spokesperson said. There is a community police officer active in Amsterdam West. "He wants to know what's going on and can possibly give us more information. This is very important at this stage."
