Seven arrested for threats made with a firearm
The police arrested five men and three women in the early hours of Monday morning in Rotterdam after an officer saw one of them threatening another with a firearm. A warning shot was fired during the arrest.
A police officer monitoring CCTV footage at the control room of the Police Headquarters noticed two cars parked side by side on Witte de Withstraat. Several people were moving around the cars and they seemed to be quarreling. The officer noticed one of the men threatening another with a gun.
At that point a patrolling police car entered the scene. The man with the gun ran to the back of one of the cars and then returned without the gun. The police officer in the control room notified the patrolling officers about the gun.
The patrolling officers proceeded to arrest all those involved, using what the police call the "Approaching Dangerous Suspect Technique". One of the suspects refused to cooperate and the officers had to fire a warning shot.
All seven suspects, between the ages of 23 and 37 years old, were arrested and are currently in custody. The firearm turned out to be an air rifle.
