Cops get 2.5 years in prison for raping drunk woman

The court in Zwolle on Monday sentenced two police officers from Overijssel to 2.5 years in prison for sexually abusing a drunk woman in their patrol car while on duty, ANP reports. During carnival in 2012, the woman drunkenly left a nightclub in Raalte, planning to walk home. The officers offered to give her a lift and she accepted. Instead of going to her house, however, the officers drove to a secluded spot, where they had sex with her in the patrol car. The two cops, 41 year old Sander L. and 44 year old Bidjay D. then tried to falsify a report to conceal the abuse. The court considered these facts proven and criticized the men for severely damaging the public confidence in the police. The men will pay 1,200 euros to the woman in damages.
