Justice Min: Police shouldn't slow Tour de France in contract dispute
Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice and Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb has asked the police unions to cancel their planned delay actions during the Tour de France stages in Utrecht and Rotterdam this weekend.
The two politicians made this request in a letter to the unions, Omroep Zeeland reports. If the unions refuse, Aboutaleb and Van der Steur will file a summary proceedings.
The unions told the broadcaster that they will announce their decision after a discussion on the planned actions on Monday. The police unions are fighting for a better collective bargaining agreement for the police. The unions previously announced that the actions will become more severe this summer. Sail Amsterdam may also be targeted.
