Two caught months after elderly couple robbed of thousands in park

The police have arrested two suspects in connection with a brutal mugging in December last year, in which an elderly couple was robbed of tens of thousands of euros. The robbery happened on Monday, December 29th between 5:00 and 5:15 p.m in Reeshofpark, Tilburg. An elderly couple, aged 82 and 83 years old, were walking through the park with a large part of their savings in a shopping trolley. They were confronted by two young men, who took the money and fled. The woman was slightly injured in the mugging. The police immediately launched an investigation and the case was broadcast on Opsporing Verzocht in May this year. This investigation led to the identification of one possible perpetrator. This man, an 18 year old from Rotterdam, was arrested in 's-Hertogenbosch on June 11th. After this arrest, the police quickly identified a second possible perpetrator. The 20 year old resident of 's-Hertogenbosch was arrested in his bed on Sunday morning. The police are continuing the investigation and expect that more arrests will be performed soon.
