Details of man sought in Amsterdam West shooting released
The police have released details of a specific man they would like to talk to in connection with the assassination in front of Tapas Village sisha lounge on De Clercqstraat in Amsterdam West on Tuesday. Camera images show this man running away from the sisha lounge just before the shooting happened. The police also call on any other witnesses to come forward.
Camera images show the man standing in the door of the sisha lounge, close to where the getaway scooter was parked at the time. He then runs towards Bilderdijkstraat just before the shooting happened. The man has a slightly darker complexion ind is presumably of Moroccan descent. He has a slender build, between 1.75 and 1.8 meters tall, between the ages of 22 and 25 years old and has short black hair. He was dressed in gray sports pants and a color matching sweater. The police urgently want to talk to this man.
The police also want to make contact with a number of other witnesses. Specifically the passengers in the passing tram - line 3 - that was also hit by flying bullets. The same applies to the customers of the sisha lounge, which has since been closed down by Mayor Eberhard van der Laan. According to the police, these customers fled quickly after the incident, but may have important information.
The shooting happened around 00:15 a.m. on Wednesday. 25 year old Zaandam criminal Youssef el Khataoui was killed. After the shooting witnesses saw two dark skinned suspects fleeing in the direction of Elisabeth Wolffstraat on a dark-colored scooter or motorcycle. The police also want to talk to anyone who may have noticed the people on the scooter in the vicinity of De Clercqstraat, Elizabeth Wolffstraat, Bellamyplein, and Bellamystraat.
