Woman pushed onto Rotterdam subway tracks; suspect in custody

The police in Rotterdam have arrested a 24 year old man who pushed a woman onto the subway tracks at the Gerdesiaweg station on Tuesday afternoon. The 67 year old woman was walking on the platform when she tripped over a man's feet who was sitting on a bench with his legs stretched out. The police state that the woman was startled and she reprimanded the man. The man the started cursing at her and pushed her onto the rails. Bystanders managed to help her off the tracks and back onto the platform before the train arrived. The man fled. The woman hurt her back and was taken to the hospital. According to NOS, the police internally circulated pictures of the incident and recognized the perpetrator as a 24 year old Rotterdam man that was previously in custody for another assault. He has been arrested for the subway incident.
