Five extra days to do tax returns

People who still haven't done their tax returns now have five extra days to do so, the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday. Tax returns now have to be in by May 5th at the latest, instead of April 30th. The extra days applies to both individuals and businesses. According to the tax authorities, the processing of the tax returns are going well, which leaves enough room to give people extra time to make their declarations. The income tax returns, sales tax returns and payroll tax returns that are submitted up until May 5th, will be processed as if they were received on April 30th. "I am satisfied that the smooth processing of tax returns gives the tax authorities more leeway", said Peter Veld, director-general of the tax service. "With this leniency people can take a quiet moment to do their tax returns in the coming days."
