CO poisoning possible cause of boating deaths
The police found the bodies of three men on a luxury longboat on Zwetkade Noord in Wateringen at around 15:00 on Sunday afternoon.
The victims are two brothers, aged 26 and 30 years, from Leidschendam-Voorburg, and a 20 year old man from Zoetermeer.
Emergency services were called in immediately, but their efforts to save the men's lives were unsuccessful. The three may have been killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, police said in a statement.
"That is one of the scenarios we are considering", a police spokesperson told AD.
Forensic investigators will test blood and urine samples to conclusively determine cause of death, possibly within a week. The police do not suspect a crime was committed.
