Turkish prosecutor wants acquittal for Dutch journalist
The Turkish court has postponed the ruling in the lawsuit against Dutch journalist Frederike Geerdink until Monday. Geerdink stands accused of making propaganda for a terrorist organization. The Turkish prosecutor has asked that she is acquitted.
According to the Turkish prosecutor, Geerdink can not be condemned based on the Anti-Terrorist Law as the evidence, which includes tweets and Facebook messages, does not incite violence. As the judge present at the hearing does not have the jurisdiction to make a ruling, Geerdink will have to wait until Monday afternoon before hearing if she will actually be acquitted.
prosecutor just pleaded for my acquittal :-) lawyer says he could agree on that. #beraat
