Red Cross in desperate hunt for summer event volunteers
The Dutch Red Cross is desperately looking for 2 thousand new volunteers to help out on the many events organized in the Netherlands this coming year, NU reports.
The Red Cross is present at major events such as King's Day, SAIL, Tour de France, Pinkpop and carnival. First aid volunteers working at events usually only treat minor injuries such as cuts, bruises and abrasions.
"For us it is now all hands on deck to get the first aid applications around", Jeroen Bot, the Red Cross' event aid coordinator, told the newspaper. "This summer there are several events on schedule were we sometimes deploy hundreds of volunteer helpers per day. Therefore we start recruiting now so that we can expand our pool of volunteers"
It is not necessary for volunteers to already have a first aid diploma. They will get training from the organization.
