Mom arrested after choking teacher unconscious

Police arrested a 33-year-old woman on Tuesday for assaulting a teacher at a primary school in Zwolle. An argument ensued between the two during a discussion about the woman's child, police report. As the exchange of words escalated, the mother grabbed the teacher by her throat. The teacher lost consciousness and suffered injuries to her neck. The police and the Dutch Public Prosecutor are handling the matter with great seriousness, say the police, since the victim is someone who holds a public function. The accused will be brought to court, where the sentence for assaulting an employee with public duties may be three times higher than normal.
