ATM thieves blow up building, crash car; two injured

Two suspects were injured in a car accident after blowing up an ATM in Nijkerk early this morning. The two suspects were taken to the hospital. A third suspect is still at large. At about 04:25 this morning the Rabobank ATM on Hoefslag in Nijkerk was blown up. Several witnesses told the police that they saw a light colored station wagon speed away. A few minutes later the police received a report that a light colored station wagon had crashed on Zielhorsterweg in Amersfoort. At the scene of the crash, officers saw a man crawling from the wreck and running away. This suspect is still at large. Two suspects, a 26 year old man from Almere and a 28 year old from The Hague, were found injured inside that station wagon. There were also all kinds of gas cylinders in the wreck, presumably used in the ATM bombing. The injured suspects had to remain in the wreck until the gas cylinders were secured. Both victims were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. The station wagon, an Audi S4, turned out to be stolen. The police are investigating the ATM bombing and the circumstances of the accident. They are also still searching for the third suspect. Nothing was stolen at the bombing, but there is significant damage to the property.
