Christian MPs against LGBT classroom tolerance
Christian parties in the Tweede Kamer (lower house of parliament) are against Minister Bussemaker's (Education, Culture and Science) plan to deploy 160 advisers to help ethnic and religious groups in the acceptance of homosexuality, Trouw reports.
The intention is that the advisers will focus on 12 groups including Turks, Moroccans, Kurds, Somalis, Afghans, Hindus, Romans, Orthodox Jews and traditional Christians. "This is the worst thing you can do", Parliament Member Roelof Bisschop (SGP) said according to Trouw. "Outside interference will have the opposite effect than the minister intends."
According to Trouw, Joel Voordewind of the ChristenUnie called the plan "nonsense". "Of course this subject should be talked about, but communities and schools must decide themselves how it is done."
