Brabant child welfare office under investigation

The inspectorates of Youth Care (Jeugdzorg) and the Ministry of Security and Justice has put the Youth Welfare Office Noord-Brabant under increased supervision, the Inspectorate Safety and Justice announced on its website. The main reason for the increased supervision is that the Youth Welfare Office Noord-Brabant did not manage to get certified on January 1st this year. The inspectorates also expressed concern about Youth Welfare Office Noord-Brabant's ability to continue on the established improvement trajectory after changes in the management board. The Youth Welfare Office Noord-Brabant is currently making improvements in the implementation of measures for child protection. The inspectorates find it important, for example, that immediately after a measure is pronounced contact is established with the child and his/her parents with the help of a family guardian. The Office had problems with this in the past. The Inspectorate indicates that they have recently seen improvements in programs for child protection. For this reason the increased supervision's goal is to check the chosen path and to prevent a relapse. The period of increased supervision will last a maximum of 1 year.
