Ajax fanhouse fire "arson": Police

The fire that burnt down the supporters clubhouse for fans of Amsterdam Ajax was intentionally set, police said Saturday. The fire raged from Thursday night into Friday morning, before firefighters could finally cancel the alarm. “Forensic police investigators then started a trace evidence investigation,” police said. “The study showed that arson took place,” a spokesperson wrote in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing to find the perpetrators.” Ajax is scheduled to play bitter rival Feyenoord Rotterdam on Sunday. It is the second time in ten years an Ajax fan clubhouse was burnt down. Fans of ADO Den Haag were believed to be responsible for a similar incident in 2005.
