Prison break stopped in Curaçao

A large escape attempt from the only prison on Curacao was stopped, reported the director of the Center for Detention and Correction Curacao (SDKK). The media reported that a tip was received about a major escape attempt. The prison leadership searched all sells in the prison and found, among other things, mobile phones, drugs, anabolic steroids, handmade weapons and that parts of the bars of two cells were sawed through. The director calls it a "major escape attempt" because in the run-up to the planned outbreak there were discussions among several prisoners from different cells planning to join. The prison on Curacao has a history of problems and abuses. In July 2012 there was a shooting incident in which a prisoner died. In May this year two serious criminals, a murderer and a rapist, escaped. They were both arrested again, the murder only two months later. The prison used to be called Koraal Specht, which later became the Bon Futuro prison and is now called the Center for Detention and Correction Curacao.
