Homes cleared as man threatens to blow up neighborhood

About 25 homes were evacuated in Pius-X hof, Weert last night after a confused man threatened to open the gas valve and blow himself up. The police received a report of the confused man around 20:00 last night. They evacuated the surrounding homes and apartment complex as a precaution. The residents of the homes were sheltered in a common area. The police were able to overpower the man around 21:50. He was arrested and taken to the police station where he waited to be transferred to professional help.
