8,000 kilos of illegal fireworks found in Gelderland storage unit

Three suspects were arrested in Gelderland on December 9, thought to be importers and dealers of illegal fireworks in the Netherlands. Through the course of their investigation, police say they confiscated eight thousand kilograms of illegal fireworks in the suspects' possession. Lengthy investigations lead to police to a storage unit in Meulunterseweg, Lunteren. The shipping container found at this address contained over 8,000 kilos of illegal fireworks. This operation marks one of the largest confiscations of illegal fireworks made by Oost-Nederland officers in history, police said in a statement. Among the arrested suspects was a 50 year-old male from Limburg, a 29 year-old woman from Ermelo, and a 59 year-old man with no fixed address.
