Arnhem supermarket the first to take Bitcoin

A Spar location in central Arnhem is now believed to be the first supermarket in the Netherlands to take Bitcoin as a form of payment. It is one of forty stores there that accept the digital currency, Arnhem Bitcoinstad announced last week. The city now has the highest density of businesses that accept digital currency. Bitcoin-friendly stores in Arnhem put together semi-annual events to raise awareness and to try to sell more shops on accepting the currency. Between May and November, the number of stores in Arnhem jumped from fifteen to the current level.
