Child carer dead from bike crash injuries; 6-yr-old also died

The 64 year old man who crashed into the water in Keldonk with two children last week, died yesterday of his injuries. A 6 year old boy also died in the accident. Last Monday the man from Erp was looking after the boy and his 3 year old sister. During a bike ride the carrier bike ended up in the Zuid-Willemsvaart in Brabant. The six year old boy hat to be rescued from the water by divers. He died in hospital a short time later. The 64 year old man had to be resuscitated. He was in critical condition in the hospital for more than a week before he died. The man was an acquaintance of the children's parents. The girl was quickly removed from the water and was not seriously injured. According the Omroep Brabant it is still unclear what exactly happened. A witness stated that the man became unwell when he tried to bring the boy to safety. The boy's football club cancelled all games last weekend "to give everyone the space to handle this great loss", said the youth president of the club in Erp.
