KNMI issues a code yellow weather warning
Stormy weather can be expected in the Netherlands today.
The Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) warns of severe wind gusts and storms on the north coast some time tonight. According to the Rijkswaterstaat, the storms will cause increased water levels along the coast.
The west of the country can expect heavy winds from around noon, with gusts between 80 and 100 kilometer per hour. The heaviest winds are expected in the northern coastal area during the course of the evening. The wind warnings remain in effect until at least Wednesday morning.
The storm depression that will affect the weather in Europe for the next few days, originated from former hurricane Gonzalo. Last week Gonzalo moved over the Bovenwindse Eilande.
