Scooter road rage leaves 70-yr-old badly injured

A 70 year old man was severely assaulted by a scooter driver in the pedestrian tunnel at Stationsplein, Bergen op Zoom. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at about 13:45 pm. The police are looking for witnesses. The victim and his wife were walking through the tunnel towards the station when a scooter rider drove into the pedestrian tunnel. The elderly man made a comment in the direction of the driver. The driver climbed off his scooter and hit the man in the face with his fist several times. The scooter driver kept hitting the man even after he fell to the ground. Another person intervened and tried to pull the attacker away from the victim. It is unclear whether this man is an acquaintance of the attacker. The attacker kicked the the elderly man another few times and drove off on his scooter. The helper also left the scene.
