Anti-IS demonstration set for A'dam, Sunday
Anti-IS demonstrators will gather together on Sunday to protest the violent acts perpetrated by the extremist Islamic State (IS) in Syria and Iraq. The protest will be on Amsterdam's Dam Square, and anybody is welcome to join, the Algemeen Dagblad reports.
The Municipality of Amsterdam expects several hundred people for the protest, which is set to start at 2.30 p.m. and finished around 4.30 p.m.
The protest will remain stationary at the Dam, with several speakers arguing against the violence of the terrorist organization.
The Municipality says that there will be extra security measures in place. "We do not expect riots like at the pro-Palestina demonstrations a few weeks ago" a spokesperson of the Mayor's office tells the Algemeen Dagblad. "We will not be deploying an extra police unit. Naturally, we will act against any discriminating displays."
