Culemborg city coalition implodes
The city council in Culemborg was formed in one month. Now, 81 days later, it has self-imploded with the ChristenUnie stepping out. The VVD and D66 now need to find a third party to re-form the council of mayor and aldermen in the city.
Since the municipal council elections in March, the city of Culemborg is the first to fall. The crux of the matter was the coming of a new swimming pool. The three parties bickered about financial risks and the support for it in the community.
According to a press release, however, ChristenUnie are putting it down as a political rift, a dissonance of political style.
"Coalition partners VVD and D66 could not appreciate the dualistic style of politics of the ChristenUnie and designate this as unworkable", the press release reads.
The D66 and VVD have to find a new coalition partner this summer, which they will receive help for from an informer.
