Heavy metals found in Shell fire soil sample
A soil sample taken from the grounds at the Moerdijk Shell reactor after the fire last night, shows traces of heavy metals. This was announced by the Fire Department South-Holland via Twitter.
The Fire Department message reads that the Royal Institute for Public Health and Environment is still investigating the spread of these heavy metals, and that contact with the soil in Moerdijk should be avoided, hands should be washed and shoes cleaned before entering homes.
The fire at the Shell refinery in Moerdijk on Tuesday night was caused by an explosion in a reactor, two people were injured.
