Arrestee had hedgehog in jacket pocket

Police in The Hague arrested a man on Monday evening in relation to an outstanding fine. It appeared that the man had a spiky surprise hidden in his jacket pocket. A live hedgehog. The 55-year old man was stopped because he was riding a bike without lights. A routine control revealed that the man had an outstanding fine of €425, equating to seven days of jail time, the NOS reports. He was taken to the police station because he was unable to pay the fine immediately. Once at the police station, agents discovered the hedgehog in the man's jacket. The suspect explained that he had found the nocturnal animal on se street and took him into his jacket to keep him from being run over. Police released the animal shortly after.
