Best election weather in 24 years
Voters in the last municipal council elections were exposed to cold, grey, wet and sometimes even stormy weather. This Wednesday, however, promises clear skies and mild weather. Even better, this election day will be the most beautiful since the municipal council elections of 1990, weather stations announce.
In both 2010 and 2006, the elections were set in cold weather, and in 2002 it was wet. In 1998 a storm raged while people trekked to the voting station. In 1994, there was heavy rain.
The influence of the weather on voter-turnout as well as election results is limited, according to research. The small difference caused by bad weather, seems to act favorably on right wing parties at national elections.
